Bonnie + Pav / Sex On Fire / Do you have a permit for that?

Trashing the dress in Toronto with Bonnie and Pav was so much fun. These newlyweds were married in the Mayan Riviera on 7/8/9 and contacted us because they wanted a cool short film and photos of themselves just having fun in the big city. We started out at the docks where we were greeted by a huge sign that read "absolutely no filming or photography allowed" we asked ourselves "is this a sign?" (pun intended). We then went down to the Distillery District where a security guard asked if we had a permit... and then in the subway we had three police officers watch us shoot for about 10 minutes before they finally approached and asked if we had a permit? This seemed to be the question of the day. Nevertheless we kept shooting - moving from one busy location to the next and are so thrilled with the outcome. Beautiful images of a beautiful couple. Thanks Bonnie and Pav for being so willing to do whatever it was we asked and we hope you love this as much as we do.

Lindsey + Jeff / Save the Date on DVD

Over the past year we've hung out with Linds and Jeff every few months as we are working on a very special project for their upcoming wedding. At our last session we also filmed them talking about their wedding invitation and all the reasons that their guests should come to their wedding. We had no idea when the cameras started rolling what to expect, there was no script or pre-shoot discussion, but knowing them as well as we do we figured that whatever was said it would definitely be funny. Their guests began receiving their DVD invites in the mail today and we hear that they also find them quite entertaining. We can't wait for their October wedding - we know we'll see lots of things like this... please come!

Lei + Mu = I Do ! / NDE A wee tiny wedding!

I had the pleasure of meeting Lei and Mu just a week ago today... 3 days later Brian and I headed to Niagara on the Lake for their very small ceremony. Lei and Mu ("moo") are exchange students from China and have been together for ten years. They have lived in several countries apart and are so happy to be here in Canada together. Mu fell in love with Niagara on the Lake the first time she stood on the shore and stared out into the horizon. They decided that they wanted to marry here in Canada before heading home to China to have their "official" wedding celebration with their families in 2011. This day was all about them. They wanted things to be short and simple and chose a 5 minute ceremony followed by a couple of hours of photos in and around the area they have come to love so much. The wedding chapel was so small that we couldn't get our cameras inside with the other 4 guests so they opted to hold the ceremony outside in front of the chapel. Brian tagged along to capture enough footage to put together a one song edit as I really wanted them to have their vows and some natural audio of their very intimate wedding day to remember for always. We wish them love and happiness no matter where their married life may take them.

Aly + Jay ~ The Perfect 10 / SDE

I met Alyson five years ago when we were sharing an office and both working as medical secretaries for surgeons. At the time Aly had already been with Jay for 5 years and it seemed all her closest friends were getting engaged and planning their weddings. We spent many lunch breaks talking about her perfect ring and her perfect wedding... she waited oh-so patiently until finally in January this year Jay popped the big question. Aly wasted no time planning every detail of her August wedding... most girls take months or years, Aly transformed her dreams on paper and magazine pages into an amazing summer wedding. We were so honoured to be chosen to capture her and Jay's big day and want to thank Karen Byker for shooting with us. In her speech at the reception Aly thanked Jay, her new husband, for allowing her to make most of the decisions in the wedding planning process; with nine bridesmaids and 4 flower girls there was lots of pink in various shades... including her incredible shoes! Here are just a few images from their day and their SDE - both Aly and Jay were so thrilled to share their wedding day with their guests at the reception. We're now 10 for 10... very fitting for Aly and Jay as they celebrate 10 years together and (finally) their wedding day!
We love you guys!

Mara + Curtis / SDE / Taking the Plunge / Niagara Falls

Mara wore her gorgeous wedding gown, not the ugly one she won (those were her words) that we trashed (see post below for their TTD session) but rather, her dream dress, beautiful shoes and a sparkling tiara and veil - she looked absolutely amazing. Mara's dog Sydney also wore a matching dress and veil... soooo cute! Yesterday was the day that her and Curtis had organized and waited for for so long. The details were planned to a tee - after hours and hours of emails and phone calls from New York City to Niagara Falls, Canada. The ceremony was beautiful in the Garden Oak Theatre right on the falls' edge. It was brutally hot, but that didn't stop everyone from enjoying themselves. When Mara stood up before her guests at the reception and told them that her and Curtis had actually taken the plunge a few days before, everyone was confused... until we showed their SDE and it all made sense. We played the TTD piece immediately following the SDE and both were applauded with enthusiasm. A few important people we want to thank include... Jessica, the matron of honour - who's efforts to escort us from hotel to hotel during the preps were so appreciated, you are organized and helpful and were the perfect right hand to your best friend on her big day. Thanks to Bill at the Royal Crowne Plaza for assisting us with the reception set up - never before have I been asked "how do you want the room arranged, it's up to you and your team"... "pardon me Bill???" Bill said Mara told him to ask us how we wanted everything set up. (Mara, you are so considerate and kind and generous - your enthusiasm and excitement for our work is so appreciated). We also want to thank Cody the Waterpark manager for granting us special permission to trash the dress in the waterpark. The live entertainment continued all day long. We enjoyed a string quartet, jazz trio and live band which played everything from Michael Buble to Michael Jackson, all part of the Nick Entertainment Group. Thanks again to Matthew Craggs for joining us, he's such a great compliment to our creativity and passion for capturing and preserving such special memories.
Mara and Curtis, enjoy your Mediterranean Cruise... we are so glad you "love, love, love" your SDE! You're so very welcome! xo

Mara + Curtis / Trash The Dress (TTD) / Niagara Falls

Last fall the phone rang. I answered it to hear a girl's voice with a distinct New York accent on the other end of the line. It was Mara from Queens. Mara had found us online in her search to plan her destination wedding - the destination being Niagara Falls, Canada. Curtis, her fiance, has some family here in the Niagara area and her own family is from Buffalo so it made sense for them to bring their wedding plans to the Honeymoon Capital of the world. Mara and Curtis drove up to meet with us last November (on my birthday in fact) and we had a lovely dinner together and talked all about their plans for their August 15th wedding. There was talk of a live band, a jazz trio, a string ensemble and even a dunk tank. Mara had some pretty crazy and interesting ideas for her wedding day and the word she used was "memorable". She wanted her day to be memorable and fun for her and Curtis and all their guests. As the months passed we had many discussions over the phone and email about the upcoming wedding. They decided to scrap the dunk tank but really wanted "taking the plunge" to somehow be incorporated. It just so happens the the Crowne Plaza, their reception venue, has a huge indoor waterpark. Mara began making the necessary connections and eventually plans were in place for her and Curtis to hit the waterpark at 8:45 pm, 15 minutes before it officially closes for the day, in order to go down some slides and stand under the huge bucket to be dumped on IN THEIR WEDDING ATTIRE! Then Mara coincidentally won a contest, the prize was a wedding dress. Naturally, she had her dream dress already ordered but thought how cool it would be to wear the winning dress and do something fun, creative and "dirty" in it. We suggested a pre-wedding trash the dress shoot. Mara fell in love. So we thought why not go all out? Let's hit a few locations where we can get some great footage of her having fun in the dress and then end the day by hitting the waterpark. We didn't feel the waterpark footage fit very well with our grungy, trashy shoot for the actual TTD, and Mara actually wants a few clips from the waterpark added to her SDE tomorrow so it's perfect. This is the TTD short film we created for her and the SDE will be posted on Sunday. We are super excited for their amazing wedding tomorrow. Mara and Curtis, our first destination wedding, and we only have to drive 40 minutes to get to the wedding... NYC comes to NF.
Thanks to Joseph Vetrone, photographer and Matthew Craggs, cinematographer, for joining us on this crazy-fun shoot.
Enjoy!

Lindsey + Jeff / Summer Time / Session IV

We have thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Lindsey and Jeff over the past year. Together we've captured 4 sessions/4 seasons and now have lots of great footage for their special wedding "surprise" to be shown at their reception. This time we headed to Port Dalhousie for some beach walking, a gorgeous sunset and some cold beer on the patio - all things that scream SUMMER! Now that we're done shooting all 4 segments it will seem a little odd not getting together every few months - well, we are shooting their wedding so we'll definitely be getting together in October : ) Here's a little tidbit about the ring photos below - when Jeff was ready to propose to Lindsey he took the promise ring he'd bought her years earlier and had the tiny diamond removed and placed into the bottom of the band of her engagement ring - a very sentimental thing to do - love is all about the little things!

Happy Anniversary to US !!! We're celebrating!

One year ago today we shot our very first wedding. We want to extend Happy 1st Anniversary wishes to Paula and Ryan, our first couple. We'd also like to thank all the couples who have chosen us to capture their wedding day (those already shot and those upcoming). Here is a short list of interesting facts and tidbits about our first year.
1. we started off as Carpenter Creations and then in January 2009 changed our name to Studio 67 (more "brandable" we think)
2. it took 8 months for us to finally reach 1000 hits on our blog
3. in the first 2 weeks of July 2009 we reached over 1000 hits on our blog : )
4. we've had the pleasure of shooting 17 weddings so far - and absolutely LOVE what we do!
5. Brian attended the StillMotion workshop in January to learn from 3 of the Industry's top cinematographers. We have so much respect for Patrick, Michael and Konrad and their work continues to inspire and excite us beyond words
6. we attended a workshop in Michigan a few months ago "The Art of Wedding Cinema" by StillMotion and had the opportunity to meet many of our colleagues in the wedding cinematography industry - we are also attending InFOCUS in January, a much larger conference in Austin, Texas, and look forward to meeting and making many more friends in this exciting industry
8. we are proud members of WedFACT - The Wedding Filmmakers Alliance of Creative Talent - this is an elite group of professionals from all around the world
9. we have our first 2 destination weddings booked for Jan 2010 and are so excited to take our 'game' on the road
10. we are so thankful to our family and friends who have, and continue to, support us in so many ways. To our 3 girls who love watching our work, to all the couples who have told others about us and to our friends and colleagues in the industry who have been in the business for a while now and give us advice and guidance, who take the time to watch our work and offer comments and criticism... thank you all!

Here's our 2008 Demo created from some of last year's weddings - we can not wait to create one for 2009 at the end of this year.
